Dé / Re construction, 2020
[Fragments of piano, acrylic paint,dc motor. Variable dimensions.]
Reconstituting the piano, its symbolic power, and the strong relationship I have with this instrument. What an ornament! An act of not accepting the historical usages. To get this instrument to return, as close as possible, to the raw material, to give it a new meaning.
Beneath the suspended piece, a motor sets it in motion. This movement produces sound and, over time, causes other elements to fall.
“At that moment, I thought of only two options: to be or not to be. Although it was hard for me to admit it. It was dramatic.
To be a pianist or to be anything else. Thinking about that point, maybe called a square.
In deconstruction (can go pretty nicely to exemplify), there are always two concepts (like: white and black, up or down, high class and low class, 1 world and 3 world, etc). In this type of couple, one is always at a disadvantage point to the other. The thing is that without the disadvantage concept, the other cannot exist. So in deconstruction, the idea is to find other possibilities of relationship between them.
That’s why I think this piece was the deconstruction of being and not being a pianist. The frank statement of my new position. A psychomagic act, I was not aware of, until its magic unfolded, and unexpectedly, a door to the void opened.
<< to clarify, even though I feel a strong influence of bipartite thinking (obvious social reasons), I work to find other type of thinking, something more quantum hypergraph (still not sure), but this was one tiny story of the past I wanted to share and not let it pass as nothing had happened>>”
