h.o.t. (horror opera techno) 2024

performance 20’

Horror Opera Techno (H.O.T.) is a performance exploring distortedness, hesitation, and feeling weird, navigating the space of its title words rather than conforming to a rigid form. The need to be in an ambiguous space. A world of seduction and repulsion rather than authority. Of truthiness rather than rigid true versus rigid false. H.O.T. seeks to blur social protocols and genre-based divisions within entertainment venues (social stratification). Particularly between clubs and traditional opera concert places. Through the fusion of operatic techniques, electronic music, and live performance to create an immersive experience.

The performance embodies a rejection of efficiency, embracing hybridizations and acceptance of the strange.

The process of the composition was collaborative and horizontal between the electronic and the vocal sections. As well as respecting the coloratura and specific features of the voices of the performers. First, see what the qualities were in the voices, and then organize them into the whole of the electronics.

This video was shortened for practical reasons.

This is the overall average sound, which changes each time because the voices and electronic elements are performed live, altering the sound in real-time.
